Nintendo has revealed that they will release a new versionof the Play-Yan, the media player made for use with the Game Boy Advance SP and Nintendo DS, for the launch of the new Game Boy Micro. The new Play-Yan Micro is exactly the same as the original system, except it features a brand-new user interface, new mini-games, and all compatible firmware updates, including one that gives it MPEG-4 movie functionality. The device will also be only available online, and will launch at two price points: alone for 5,000 yen, or bundled with Panasonic's MediaStage software for 6,000 yen. While no US release of the Play-Yan has been announced, rumors have placed one as a distinct possibility for the holiday season.
