You heard me right; soon you will be able to have a multiplayer frag fest with your friends online in Hyrule. However Zelda Online is not an official Nintendo game but the works of a small group of dedicated Zelda fans.
Zelda Online originally started off as a few Ocarina of Time (OoT) maps being rebuilt to play inside Halo Custom Edition (a multiplayer-only version of Halo PC made to support user created mods). There is an increasing interest in Halo mods, and for the not so tech savvy, a Halo mod is a modified version of the popular Xbox and PC game Halo. Hobby programmers tweak the original game code, replacing original objects with new objects, changing the texture mapping as well as crating new levels. Sometimes mods turn into completely new games, like Counter Strike that started off as a Half Life mod.
